Eisenhower - Prinzip für Leader

"I have two kinds of problems, the urgent and the important. The urgent are not important, and the important are never urgent.” 

Aus diesem Satz einer Rede des früheren US Präsidenten Eisenhower wurde das Eisenhower Prinzip abgeleitet, dass vermutlich in jedem Selbstmanagement Seminar gelehrt wird und die meisten von Euch kennen. Du checkst die Wichtigkeit und Dringlichkeit Deiner Aufgaben und priorisierst danach, was Du selber machst, was Du sein lässt und was Du delegierst.

Im Daily Business sind allerdings Deadlines häufig unklar, die Wichtigkeiten der Aufgaben sind unbewusst oder trotz klarer Prio arbeiten wir nicht wir Roboter unsere Liste ab. (Leadership-Skills auszubauen fällt in der Regel übrigens auch zu dem Quadranten, der unser Hauptaugenmerk benötig - wichtig/nicht dringend). Anstelle dessen werden Feuer gelöscht und wir fühlen uns busy und denken was zu schaffen, indem wir Dringendes priorisieren.

Was sind ToDos, die Du skippen könntest? Was schiebst Du schon lange vor Dir her, obwohl es wichtig ist?

From this sentence of a speech of the former US President Eisenhower the Eisenhower Principle was derived, which is probably taught in every self-management seminar and most of you know. You check the importance and urgency of your tasks and prioritize what you do yourself, what you leave undone and what you delegate.

In daily business, however, deadlines are often unclear, the importance of tasks is unconscious or, despite clear priorities, we do not work through our list as robots. (Developing leadership skills, by the way, usually also falls into the quadrant that needs our main attention - important/non-urgent). Instead, fires are put out and we feel busy and think we are getting something done by prioritizing urgent.
